Rewards for Youth Players

Just saw this and I really don’t know what to think, these would be u7s…

I coach a 2011’s team and have recently found out that some of the boys are being paid for goals by parents/grandparents (£1, £2 per goal £5 for a hat-trick etc).

I’ve asked parents to stop as in my opinion, this encourages wrong decisions making. Boys holding onto the ball and shooting rather than passing to others. It’s also not really in the spirit of teamwork.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against rewarding but surely it should be based on overall performance, tracking back, assists, effort and work rate not just number of goals.

Thoughts?
